Fox News slams GOP: Voters said no thanks to the Republican alternative. They’ve indicted the Party.

Marc Thiessen did not mince his words on Fox News as he pointed out that Americans have rejected the Republican Party despite the headwinds Democrats had.

It was pleasing to hear some truth on Fox News for a change. Mark Thiessen was not kind to the Republicans. Pundit Marc Thiessen was absolute.

“Think about this,” Marc Thiessen said. “We have the worst inflation in four decades. The worst collapse in real wages in 40 years. The worst crime wave since the 1990s. The worst border crisis in US history. We have Joe Biden, who is the least popular president since Harry Truman since presidential polling happened and there wasn’t a red wave. That is a searing indictment of the Republican Party.”

Ouch. What is funny is that he believes those statements abstractly about the state of our economy.

“That is a searing indictment of the message that we have been sending to the voters,” Thiessen continued. “They looked at all of that and said and looked at the Republican alternative and said, no, thanks. The Republican Party needs to do a real deep introspection and look in the mirror right now because this is an absolute disaster for the Republican Party. … And electing these radical candidates who ran far behind them has put the Republican Party in a terrible position. And voters have left and have indicted the Republican Party.”

Even as my political gut told me the polls were wrong, the overbearing narrative was enough to give me doubts. I just was not seeing from my network, which comprises both the Right, Left, and everything in between, that gloom and doom from the networks. They were all parroting the same narrative, mostly one manufactured by Republican operatives. It was a head fake to depress Democratic and Progressive votes while emboldening their ill-informed followers.

Last night I participated on a four-person panel at KPFT 90.1 FM Houston to analyze the midterm election. One of the panelists was reading the “ACTUAL” exit polls. When she started reading out what the voters were saying early on, it was clear that the night would not be a disaster.
Former Houston Mayor Annise Parker called into the KPFT program from an engagement in Florida to support LGBTQ candidates around the country. She pointed out that many of them were doing well and that Democrats would have a much better night than most would imagine. It was reaffirming.

Democrats outperformed history. While they may or may not hold on to the House, they made it clear that fascism and the disregard for women’s rights would not stand. Most of the extremists of consequence lost.

This election must be a warning to Democratic leaders. Listen to your activists. They are the ones closest to the people. Hell, listen to the wants of the people unfiltered. While corporations are stakeholders in our Democracy, first and foremost, it’s the people who are the largest stakeholders. Deny their wants at your peril. We can stop the political swings by just supporting the people’s wants.
