Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a traitor to the working class, leaves Democratic Party. What now?

Traitor to the working class, Kyrsten Sinema once again sticks a thorn into the eyes of Democrats as she leaves the party for disingenuous reasons to become an Independent.

Kyrsten Sinema strikes again.

The Oligarchy is still gasping for air. They are still alive. And they are still manipulating too many of our politicians on both sides.

This morning, Kyrsten Sinema, a traitor to the working class, ditched the Democratic Party. Her excuse was a false equivalence diatribe.

Everyday Americans are increasingly left behind by national parties’ rigid partisanship, which has hardened in recent years. Pressures in both parties pull leaders to the edges, allowing the loudest, most extreme voices to determine their respective parties’ priorities and expecting the rest of us to fall in line.

In catering to the fringes, neither party has demonstrated much tolerance for diversity of thought. Bipartisan compromise is seen as a rarely acceptable last resort, rather than the best way to achieve lasting progress. Payback against the opposition party has replaced thoughtful legislating.

Americans are told that we have only two choices – Democrat or Republican – and that we must subscribe wholesale to policy views the parties hold, views that have been pulled further and further toward the extremes.

That is one of the most disingenuous statements any politician of conscience could make. After all, every policy she voted for and most Democrats supported sans Republicans were, at best moderate. The working class, who have been falling behind for decades, have yet to have policies that do more than having them pacing in the same spot. There are no growth progressive policies that could get past Kyrsten Sinema, Joe Manchin, and some quite neoliberals.

One hopes that she at least votes in a manner that allows Democrats to get majorities on committees. She owes Democrats at least that; after all, that is who voted for her. She was never a reliable vote for progressive policies, there is no loss beyond that.
