A very combative Chuck Todd annihilated Rep. Jim Jordan point by point on his well-rehearsed narrative for investigating the FBI and much more. It was a clinic he must continue and improve on now.
Chuck Todd exposes Jim Jordan point by point
Sometimes when the bar has been lowered for so long, the bar for a successful interview is not too high. I would normally use that cliche when talking about any relatively good interview by the Sunday Morning news programs.
Suffice it to say that Chuck Todd more than cleared the bar on the Jim Jordan interview. He came prepared to push back at the charlatan’s nonsense, lies, and misinformation.
Chuck Todd decided he would not let any significant lies or disinformation go unanswered. He interrupted Jordan soon after he made ludicrous statements. The first came quickly.
Jim Jordan attempted to malign the FBI by using the arrest of high-level FBI agent Charles McGonigal who allegedly aided sanctioned oligarch Oleg Deripaska. Todd pushed back immediately. He reminded Jordan that Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort passed campaign information to a Russian agent and borrowed millions from Deripaska.
When Jordan attacked the FBI for investigating parents threatening other parents at school board meetings, Todd read the vicious threats and pointed out that the FBI would not be doing their job if they did not investigate. Todd also dismembered the false equivalence that Jordan attempted with the classified documents.
Todd pointed out that every investigation that Jordan is once again wasting dollars on has been done by Republicans who found absolutely nothing. Chuck made a critical comment.
“The problem is that, when you look at this, you want to talk about the weaponization of the Justice Department,” Chuck Todd said. “You don’t want to look at anything that happened during the Trump years. He subpoenaed data on Congressman Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell. That’s what is known. He secretly obtained reporters’ phone records using the Justice Department. He pressured the Justice Department, Donald Trump did, to go easy on Michael Flynn and Roger Stone. The justice was pressured by Mark Meadows, who investigated this election fraud. He even tried to change the leadership at the Justice Department. My point. If you are concerned about the weaponization of the Justice Department in the Biden years, why not investigate the Trump years?
And later nailed it. “You do not seem to ever see the same conspiratorial problems when it’s a Republican.”
Altogether, Chuck Todd did a solid job in this interview; He more than exceeded the low bar we expect from many hosts in the mainstream news media.
