Israel, France, Brazil, & USA, the path to fascism. It’s all about economics and fear.

The Democratic world is turning to fascism because those elected as stewards failed. Their commitments are to empower & enrich themselves as they have sold out to the oligarchy.

Path to fascism

This weekend many congregated in the large backyard of the Unitarian Fellowship of Houston on Wirt Road, where we listened to several bands. It was a community event where people of all stripes got together just to enjoy a beautiful day and discuss whatever was on their minds. Imagine if we could just continue to have dialogue instead of animus.

When Donald Trump lost the popular vote but won the electoral college in 2016, I paused. When Jair Bolsonaro won the election in Brazil in 2018, I paused. When Benjamin Netanyahu was elected back into power in 2022, I paused. The citizens of Democratic countries elected these fascists. Why?

Joe Biden defeated Trump by seven million votes or so. Unfortunately, the failed Trump administration that exacerbated a pandemic was not enough for an additional seven million or so to vote when he was soundly defeated by Biden. Even with that reality, it was a closer election in the electoral college than it was when Hillary Clinton lost the Electoral College.

Democracy is fragile. When Bolsonaro lost his bid for reelection, like Trump, he attempted a popular coup that failed. But neither Trump nor Bolsonaro is in jail.

And then there is Israel’s indicted dictator Benjamin Netanyahu. that is attempting to strip the judiciary of its powers to rule on the constitutionality of Knesset’s laws.

What is happening with our democracies? The fascists have found a formula that they are still perfecting. If you want to see an example of what gives them the license to demagogue into a pathway to fascism, one just needs to look into what is occurring in France.

Neoliberal policies are the foundation, the building material that fascists are using to take power. They have yet to perfect it. But it is coming.

It’s all about economics and fear.

Fear and economics are a dirty mix. Throughout the world, the masses are feeling stressed because of an economic system imposed on us that has converted us all into antiseptic slaves. And while fascism is not the answer, fascist leaders have made it seem to many in the masses that they have solutions.
