Writers should focus on Obama successfully passing substantive bills in toxic environment instead of petty Whitehouse drama #p2 #tcot #teaparty

I really am not sure what to make of this article. The title brought me in. The substance seemed almost like a Fox News type description of the interaction in the White House. After so much was accomplished, in spite of GOP 100% obstructionist stance one would expect an article of this type analyzing how with such obstacle how so much substantive legislation got passed.   The internal grumbling is nothing new and is a part of human relationships. To state that human relationships were somehow to blame for the failures of focus on unemployment seems contraindicative when much of the stimulative policies that were actually initially discussed stood no chance of passage.      My Book: As I See It: Class Warfare The Only Resort To Right Wing Doom Book’s Webpage: http://amzn.to/dt72c7 - Twitter: http://twitter.com/egbertowillies Some revelations about the Obama administration detailed in the new epilogue to the upcoming paperback release of Jonathan Alter's bestseller, … [Read more...]

Facebook Obama Hate Group Thread That Illustrates The Results of Right Wing Indoctrination #p2 #tcot #teaparty

Yesterday I was invited likely by mistake to a President Obama hate Facebook Group Called “1 MILLION People to DEFEAT Barack Obama”. It is likely a lame group that is trying to compete with the wildly popular Facebook Group called “Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack)” . I decided to attempt to engage in a conversation that resulted in a thread over 100 messages long in less than a few hours. What is amazing is the consistency of the talking points of these Right Wing bots. After the moderator realized that they were fighting factual relevant information and discourse with rhetoric, she shut the thread down and deleted it. Interesting enough members of the group alerted me to said deletion. I recreated most of the thread to illustrate the non-substantive one sidedness of the discussion. When I posted again to the site to inform that transparency is always the best disinfectant, I got a nasty response and the posting removed. The one thing the Right Wing fears is truthful and open information. It is … [Read more...]

Privatization Of Government Services Nothing But Corporate Welfare In Disguise #p2 #tcot #teaparty

The article at The Huffington Post titled “At Kaplan University, ‘Guerilla Registration’ Leaves Students Deep In Debt” hit a nerve. The premise of the article is that many at the mentioned private University used less than honest tactics to either enroll students or keep students enrolled. Worst, student’s diplomas and/or transcripts were held hostage for phantom owed fees. This should not be surprising. Since Ronald Reagan professed that ”Government is the problem”, the government began the march to privatization. This was done under the premise that privatization would increase efficiencies and would somehow be less expensive. As an engineer well-schooled in math I always considered that statement one of the most deceiving lies of the politicians. To believe that privatization is less expensive one must believe the mathematical impossibility that the cost of a service or product alone is greater than the cost of the service or product plus profit plus taxes. It makes no sense. It is true that government … [Read more...]

Prescient Letter To The Editor By Josie Salmon Robinson on Bush Complicity In Executing The Innocent In TX #p2 #tcot #teaparty

Your Turn Wednesday, December 22, 2010 JUSTICE IN TEXAS Dear Editor: While former President George W. Bush has been out making the rounds of the liberal media seeking to promote not only his image, but to rationalize his memoirs of his compassionate conservatism, the real story is in Texas. Claude Jones, the last person executed under Governor Bush, died in the death chamber, still proclaiming he had been wrongly convicted. The single piece of forensic evidence was a strand of hair that he swore belonged to someone else. His request for DNA testing was denied by the courts and by Bush.  Now, over a decade later, it seems that DNA has proven Jones’s claim. The hair was not his. It matched the victim. Perhaps Jones was guilty, but he was convicted on false evidence and again, it’s possible that Texas and George Bush executed an innocent man. No amount of rationalized memoirs can wash this blood from George Bush’s hands. The trend to speed up executions in Texas continues with Rick Perry’s … [Read more...]

President Barack Obama Is A Misunderstood Success In The Making #p2 #tcot #teaparty

We all misunderstand this President. I am starting to understand his method. Republicans disregard him at their peril. While talking heads, left wing bloggers including myself, and the “professional left” have been criticizing this President for a long time he has remained calm, consistent, and adult. This gave us the impression that he was timid and not willing to fight. The reality is that he may have been one of the few Democrats willing to fight, willing to take a chance, and willing to compromise. He likely had the compass of the timid Democrats, the Blue Dog Democrats, the fighting Democrats, the Right Wing Republicans, and the Moderate Republicans. He likely balanced the policy the best way he could, given the ocean of difference that exists between parties. When we review the accomplishments of President Obama’s Presidency after two years one can only call it a mitigated policy success. A small list of his major accomplishments include Stimulus That Prevented A Depression Healthcare Reform … [Read more...]

Census Data And Midterm Election Outcome Bad Narrative For Democrat Simply Wrong #p2 #tcot #teaparty

I find it amazing how the media, both the mainstream media as well as the Right Wing echo chamber continues to have a Right slant irrespective of objective data. Case in point is the census data as well as the midterm election data. It is true that Democrats took a deserved shellacking mostly because of their ineptitude or timidity in driving home a consistent progressive message that when detailed most in the middle class would clamor for. I assume this messaging problem is due to corporate leaning Blue Dogs and Democratic Corporate prostitution. That said, those that are prematurely concerned about 2012 because of the census data and midterm results should heed the following. Though Republicans won big in the midterms, relative to actual seats the actual differential in votes in most races were relatively small. Taking note that the increased Obama based was all but inactive I predict if core values are maintained and the Right effectively exposed, the elections in 2012 will not even be close. Though … [Read more...]

Help Fend Off The Coming Attack On Healthcare Reform Now!!! #p2 #hcr

While many of us are counting our blessings this holiday season, some in Washington are planning their attack. As soon as the New Year rolls in, opponents want to repeal the new health care rights you just helped secure. Among our rights at risk: Insurance companies can't limit needed medical care, especially for the seriously ill. Companies can't deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. Help for struggling middle-class families to get the coverage they need. Tax breaks for small businesses so they can insure workers. Help for seniors to pay for needed medicines. It's important Americans know what's at stake. Consumers Union will be educating your neighbors about these and other new health care rights – and fighting for them. We'll also be working to keep your insurance premiums in check and to get the double-talk out of insurance forms, among other consumer issues. Join us in our fight in the New Year by giving $25. Your gift is tax deductible! Our nation is facing tough financial … [Read more...]

Failure to pass DREAM Act is not the end of DREAM #p2 #tcot #teaparty

This weekend's vote on the DREAM Act was a disappointment. Republicans voted against a measure to give folks who are American in everything but their legal status an opportunity through military service or education. I'll be blunt: this vote failed because a group of Republicans stood with their party, instead of their principles. Senator John McCain cosponsored the DREAM Act in 2003, 2005, and 2007. But this weekend, he voted against it. Senator Chuck Grassley cosponsored the DREAM Act in 2003 -- and voted against it this weekend. Neither of them were alone -- there are five Republican senators who have voted for the DREAM Act in the past decade, but failed to support it on Saturday. We need to send a clear message to the Republicans that none of us are going away -- that we will continue to fight. That's why we're asking people who support the DREAM Act to call the GOP leaders and express their disappointment -- and to tell them to stop playing politics with immigration reform. Call … [Read more...]

Republicans Healthcare Reform Constitutional Challenge Encourages Irresponsible Behavior For Corporate Gain

Those who continue to fight healthcare reform on constitutional grounds must be cognizant of what they are actually fighting for. They are fighting about the irresponsible’ s right to be irresponsible and not purchase healthcare insurance while ignoring the right of those who are forced to pay for the healthcare of the irresponsible who could have otherwise afford insurance. The premiums of the responsible are involuntarily increased. The taxes of the responsible are involuntarily increased. Those that have a blind faith in the letter of the law in the constitution must realize that the framers of the constitution lived in a different time and in those times had many prejudices and problems we have since overcome. The founders could not have imagined cars, computers, medical procedures, and much more. They were wise in making the document fungible and/or amendable. Neither should the founders be considered infallible. After all, that document for a long time considered me 3/5 of a person, did not allow … [Read more...]
