I really am not sure what to make of this article. The title brought me in. The substance seemed almost like a Fox News type description of the interaction in the White House. After so much was accomplished, in spite of GOP 100% obstructionist stance one would expect an article of this type analyzing how with such obstacle how so much substantive legislation got passed. The internal grumbling is nothing new and is a part of human relationships. To state that human relationships were somehow to blame for the failures of focus on unemployment seems contraindicative when much of the stimulative policies that were actually initially discussed stood no chance of passage. Facebook Obama Hate Group Thread That Illustrates The Results of Right Wing Indoctrination #p2 #tcot #teaparty
Yesterday I was invited likely by mistake to a President Obama hate Facebook Group Called “1 MILLION People to DEFEAT Barack Obama”. It is likely a lame group that is trying to compete with the wildly popular Facebook Group called “Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack)” . I decided to attempt to engage in a conversation that resulted in a thread over 100 messages long in less than a few hours. What is amazing is the consistency of the talking points of these Right Wing bots. After the moderator realized that they were fighting factual relevant information and discourse with rhetoric, she shut the thread down and deleted it. Interesting enough members of the group alerted me to said deletion. I recreated most of the thread to illustrate the non-substantive one sidedness of the discussion. When I posted again to the site to inform that transparency is always the best disinfectant, I got a nasty response and the posting removed. The one thing the Right Wing fears is truthful and open … [Read more...]
Privatization Of Government Services Nothing But Corporate Welfare In Disguise #p2 #tcot #teaparty
The article at The Huffington Post titled “At Kaplan University, ‘Guerilla Registration’ Leaves Students Deep In Debt” hit a nerve. The premise of the article is that many at the mentioned private University used less than honest tactics to either enroll students or keep students enrolled. Worst, student’s diplomas and/or transcripts were held hostage for phantom owed fees. This should not be surprising. Since Ronald Reagan professed that ”Government is the problem”, the government began the march to privatization. This was done under the premise that privatization would increase efficiencies and would somehow be less expensive. As an engineer well-schooled in math I always considered that statement one of the most deceiving lies of the politicians. To believe that privatization is less expensive one must believe the mathematical impossibility that the cost of a service or product alone is greater than the cost of the service or product plus profit plus taxes. It makes no sense. It is true … [Read more...]
Prescient Letter To The Editor By Josie Salmon Robinson on Bush Complicity In Executing The Innocent In TX #p2 #tcot #teaparty
Your Turn Wednesday, December 22, 2010 JUSTICE IN TEXAS Dear Editor: While former President George W. Bush has been out making the rounds of the liberal media seeking to promote not only his image, but to rationalize his memoirs of his compassionate conservatism, the real story is in Texas. Claude Jones, the last person executed under Governor Bush, died in the death chamber, still proclaiming he had been wrongly convicted. The single piece of forensic evidence was a strand of hair that he swore belonged to someone else. His request for DNA testing was denied by the courts and by Bush. Now, over a decade later, it seems that DNA has proven Jones’s claim. The hair was not his. It matched the victim. Perhaps Jones was guilty, but he was convicted on false evidence and again, it’s possible that Texas and George Bush executed an innocent man. No amount of rationalized memoirs can wash this blood from George Bush’s hands. The trend to speed up executions in Texas continues with Rick … [Read more...]
