Texas Democrats Discuss Special Session–A Failure That Will Affect For A Decade

I am happy to see Democrats actively speaking out. Unfortunately were it not for alternative media, the truths of what is occurring in Austin, Texas would have gone unheard. Texas will  become the poster child of what real Republican rule entails; complete disregard for the middle class. It is imperative that Texans are able to see who the real boogie man is. The corporate control media will not present the full picture for Texans to digest. The wealthy Texas donor will not allow corporate controlled newspapers and radio to carry the truth in depth. The same forces that have maintained the status quo of poverty and the pilfering of the average citizen is being replicated in today’s Texas and today’s America. Will we answer the call and vote what is in our best interest? Will we start voting the interest of the middle class? I am sure that going forward with the dissemination of information in all additional venues, we will. … [Read more...]

FreedomWorks Does Not Get It. Middle Class Is About To Revolt.

FreedomWorks simply does not get it. They actually believe that the American middle class will continue its path to self-destruction by maintaining a path of indentured servitude to the top two percent of the population. They continue to push the country to the right, a direction that is nothing more than a wealth transfer vector to corporations and plutocrats. While in the past they could distract with social issues like abortion and religion, a starving citizen tend to forget these issues rather quickly. Democrats must give Americans two well defined and contrasted real choices. The Republican’s choice of middle class servitude with real world illustrations of the damage it has and will continue to have on the middle class and the country’s well-being, and the Democratic choice of investments and policies that will create a well-paid working middle class and a strong safety net (Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid) that will mitigate the aberrations that poorly regulated capitalism can sometimes incur. … [Read more...]

Barack Obama Finds Solid Ground, High Approval Ratings, White House Confident About Reelection

President Obama and for that matter most democrats running can only lose if they defeat themselves. Paul Ryan in his budget has codified the Republican philosophy. It is obscene that while we are asking austerity of the middle class that we increase said pain by further given tax breaks to the top two percent. It is not that we have not seen results of tax cuts to the corporations and plutocrats as the deficits increased and middle class stay stagnant. We have lived this and we are living with the results of said policy. The experiment is over. Democrats lose if they allow Republicans to redefine their failure as the failure of liberal policies we know work as it has worked in the past. Gold Coins Could be the Answer?

A bullion may be the answer to a falling dollar. A gold bullion will be a visible hedge and become more valuable than paper money. Given that we have a Federal Reserve that seems content to print paper money mostly to benefit wealthy benefactors, the “buy bullion” mantra may be becoming in vogue. Gold is and has been the method of exchange for many millennia. Given that gold is a desirable substance that time has proven has staying power, one cannot but expect it to be the “currency” of refuge. It is for this reason that interest in this metal is strong. Given the fear of the ultimate collapse of the world currencies the buy gold bullion movement is now. Protecting one’s nest egg is another concern that may be mitigated with a gold IRA that might be a good hedge to a fund biased to bonds and dollar affected stocks. Care must be take however to ensure that one’s portfolio is sufficiently biased in the event that there are wild fluctuations in the gold exchange market. … [Read more...]

No Job? Why? Not Made In America

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).   After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator(MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE  IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then  wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA..... … [Read more...]

Report That Illustrates That Texas Could Balance The Budget By Taxing Fairly Could Be extrapolated Nationally

I was directed to the article below by my dear Kingwood Area Democrat friend Deborah Mowrey at just the time as I was doing some other blogging on the Texas financial massacre that will set the state back likely for a decade. Shame on the Texas Republican cabal. Warren Buffett knows what he is talking about. While Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Ted Turner’s benevolence in reentering their wealth into society is a commendable act, a country’s financial structure should not be dependent on a few to ensure that the unsustainability of wealth transfer to the few does not cause the country’s ultimate collapse. The study below presents nothing that we do not inherently know. The middle class has always been and continue to be squeezed and pilfered. What it does is put numerical value to the extent here in Texas. I am sure this could be extrapolated throughout the United States. Final State Budget Vote Coming Up Today – Call your Legislators!

Final State Budget Vote Coming Up Today - Call your Legislators! State senators and state representatives will vote today on a final budget proposal (House Bill 1) that will cut BILLIONS of dollars to public schools, college financial aid, hospitals, public safety and critical state jobs.  At least $6 billion will be left unspent in the self-replenishing Rainy Day Fund.  Natural gas companies will keep their $1 billion a year tax giveaway. Do you find this hard to believe?  This sounds like a great betrayal of the people’s trust. Call your legislators’ office and tell them to vote NO on any budget proposal as long as it includes cuts while leaving money sitting in the state treasury. Find your state legislators here: http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/ Please forward this message to your email list. … [Read more...]

Get Government Off His Back!

by Former Senator Fritz Hollings "A veteran returning from Korea went to college on the GI Bill, bought his house with an FHA loan, saw his kids born in a VA hospital, started a business with an SBA loan, got electricity from TVA and, later, water from an EPA project.  His parents, living on Social Security, retired to a farm, got electricity from REA and had their soil tested by the USDA.  When his father became ill, the family was saved from financial ruin by Medicare and a life was saved with a drug developed through NIH.  His kids participated in the school lunch program, learned physics from teachers trained in an NSF program and went to college with guaranteed student loans.  He drove to work on the Interstate and moored his boat in a channel dredged by Army engineers.  When floods hit, he took Amtrak to Washington to apply for disaster relief and spent some time in the Smithsonian museums.  Then one day he got mad.  He wrote his Senator an angry letter - … [Read more...]
