Guest post from: Kent Lara I went to texaselectricityproviders.com/ when I moved in here because I’m all about saving money. My husband thinks I’m crazy because I spend hours every weekend clipping coupons and organizing them in my giant coupon notebook but hey, I think that’s the way you really save big time! He won’t be complaining when we’re able to use the money I saved to go on a vacation this year, that’s the truth, and I know that as much as he pokes fun he really does appreciate all the things I do around the house to save us money. It’s hard not to be really into it when you’re a stay at home mom and you’re not bringing in any money anymore – sometimes I feel like I’m more of a drain on us than anything else so it’s nice to know he thinks I’m really pulling my weightwhen it comes to the money side of things. I don’t worry about cash but I don’t have to anymore, that’s the honest to goodness … [Read more...]
American people won’t get fair shot until we have government by & for all — not bought & paid for by corporations

It's no wonder Americans are losing faith in our political system.. Citizens United lets big corporations spend unlimited amounts of money -- in secret and without accountability -- so politicians answer to them instead of voters. We've lost our way when corporations are people, money is free speech, and politicians are for sale to the highest bidder. We've already seen the outcome: big corporations get massive taxpayer handouts, gut safety regulations, and take away the rights of workers -- while sticking American families with the bill. The American people won't catch a break until we have a government by and for all of us -- not bought and paid for by Wall Street, Big Oil, and corporate lobbyists. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW In modern elections, nine out of 10 congressional races are won by the candidate who raises the most campaign cash. Citizens United eliminated the restrictions on corporations from directly spending unlimited amounts in our elections -- and now they get to do it in secret and … [Read more...]

Occupy Kingwood – A Sustainable Form Of The Occupy Movement (2012-01-28)

We are now at six weeks and Occupy Kingwood is still going strong. We will continue to do this weekly to keep awareness on the issues affecting middle class Americans. We want our community to be aware that we understand the plight of most of them as they keep their real concerns about our economy and the future of our country and families in a numb silence. This week our numbers were small as their were many ancillary events taking place. But as long as there is one person willing to stand and keep the community engaged, we will be out there. Sharing donuts and coffee on a snippy cool and sunny morning was fun. One can actually have fun as they perform their civic duty. So come on and join us. We will be there next week to talk to, greet, meet, inform, and just have fun with you. Every week we get new folks coming out. A Discussion On Climate Change with Texas A&M Climate Scientist Dr. Andrew Dessler

On Saturday January 29th, 2012 Dr. Andrew Dessler, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University was invited to speak about climate change to the community. He was well received and was very informing. There were two sessions. The first session discussed the science of climate change. Find out what drives climate changes and atmospheric conditions with a degree in meteorology. The second session was concentrated more on policies and solutions. One can only hope that more educational sessions like these are held to ensure our citizens are informed with valid information as opposed to corporate spin that negatively affects us all. The event was suggested by Dr. Ron Spross. The lay leadership of the church got behind it and made it happen. Presbyterian churches like Atascocita Presbyterian are run by a group of ordained lay leaders called elders. They refer to this governing group as the "Session". They were very supportive of this event, its controversial nature notwithstanding. … [Read more...]
