Bill Maher–If Obama Is A Socialist He Is A Lousy One–Reality v Fallacy (VIDEO)

May 25, 2012 By Egberto Willies

imageSometimes it takes a comedian to get the truth out in a form that is easier to absorb by those that are generally resistant to basic information from serious factual sources that opposes their views. In watching Bill Maher on Friday May 25th, 2012 I felt compelled to dissect news worthy snippets that illustrates the absurdity of the Right’s attack on President Obama.

The Right would have you believe that the president is one of the most Left Wing Presidents we have had. Yet, most of his policies including the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and his “too low” tax policy actually followed a more moderate Republican mantra. His foreign policy follows a more Republican like belligerency with a softer edge. His evolving social policy still leaves many on the left wanting.

Look, I strongly believe that giving Obama’s upbringing he is in his heart a selfless moralist that really believes in public service (e.g., When he left Harvard, a community organizer job had to be an object of love giving his earning potential in corporate America that he simply discounted.). Moreover I think he is much more left than he is willing to govern because he in fact understands the country is made up of many viewpoints. He is attacked on all sides (Left and Right) for this.

This 90 second compressed monologue I prepared as a news snippet is prescient. It shows how a comedian in one sitting can present the Obama versus Right Wing story factually and in a funny manner. It speaks to the collapse of our mainstream media and the reliability thereof that most real news journalist are unable or unwilling to provide unbiased news where one does not try to balance truth from one side with fallacies from the other.

This will be a nasty presidential election. Citizens support different candidates for different reason. In this process we must ensure that information provided at a minimum reflect reality.

Sometimes a comedian can get us to look at the absurd ideas coming from extremist viewpoints. President Obama is more centrist than we are willing to acknowledge. Intelligent people people. Red to start doing their own research instead of listening to “talking heads” who do not know what they are talking about.

Sorry about the typos–should have read -“Intelligent people need to do their own research…”

A little proof reading always helps credibility…I think the headline meant “Reality” not “Realty” unless it was meant as some satirical comment on the real estate crisis. Otherwise I totally agree with the premise that our president is a dedicated pragmatist.

While it is true that comedians can sometimes cut through to the meat of the matter and expose he truth. Maher is not always one of them. At least not on this subject. Most of what he says here is demonstrably false. Most f it is not even very clever. He is simply parroting the false party line pushed by the main stream media. (spending, Drilling, etc.) Maher offers no profound insights that I can discern. The statistics are phoneyed up, this has been exposed very decisively. The Republicans are a bunch of idiots in many cases and Bush screwed up by going along with the Keynesians in congress. If it were not for the 2010 influx of fiscal conservatives into congress, we would probably be facing 20 trillion dollar debt if we were not already cut off by our creditors. Obama’s policys are Statist, which is different, but perhaps just a stones throw from Socialist. And an ocean away from Libertarian, which is closer to the path we should be on.

Obama presumes to lecture the Europeans on fiscal policy?? Maher doesn’t see that as ridiculous?

P.S. – I think Maher pretty much nailed it on the head with his Religulous piece. And he nails the Marijuana issue.

Fortunately I have been doing this for a long time and am not fooled by cooked numbers (GOP are much better at it than Democrats). Everything that Bill Maher stated is provably true. You may argue why it is true but it is absolute fact. I actually got your digs on Keynesian economics. In our brand of capitalism it is the only solution and has always been the solution to get us out of recessions and depressions irrespective of the administration’s party affiliation. Many like to assume Reagan was this great supply sider. He was just another Keynesian with a tax policy promoted by both Democrats and Republicans going forward that have pilfered the middle class. It is all in the charts and we can see the progressive theft of America’s wealth migrating to the few.
