Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson Supports Marrying Minors?
It seems like Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson has a full repertoire of offensive comments. They are all showing up in videos. First we were made aware of his homophobic rant and racist condescension to blacks.
This new video is simply unbelievable. Does this guy forget that this is a world where everything is recorded? In the video above Phil Robertson says the following in a rather disturbing monologue.
“Now that’s a woman. They got to where they’re hard to find. Mainly because these boys are waiting til they’re twenty years old before they marry them. Look, you wait til they get to be twenty years old and the the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they’re about fifteen or sixteen and they’ll pick your ducks.”
Is Phil Robertson the type of man we want on our TV screens?
Phil Robertson is under scrutiny. These videos are not new. However it is evident the search is on to find out a little more about this man’s previous articulations.
Did A & E.ever do a search on this man? Should A & E have done a search on this man? Should the opinions articulated by Phil Robertson disqualify him from a series like Duck Dynasty?
Most would likely agree before the fact that these disturbing video releases would have been a show stopper. Networks do not want to bring on baggage.
The ratings for Duck Dynasty are down substantially since the scandal.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, in the days after the Duck Dynasty patriarch was benched for his anti-gay remarks to GQ writer Drew Magary, A&E experienced a significant downturn in its deliveries. In the week of Dec. 16-22, A&E averaged 1.51 million viewers in prime time, down 13 percent from 1.73 million in the year-ago period.
The target demos took a bigger hit, as adults 25-54 dropped 22 percent to 678,000, while members of the 18-49 set fell 18 percent to 646,000.
It sad that Louisiana Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin believed they needed to react to Phil Robertson’s suspension. What is worse is his reaction to his reinstatement after much more evidence this mans intolerance was revealed. He issued the following statement.
“I am glad to hear that the folks at A&E came to their senses and recognized that tolerance of religious views is more important than political correctness. Today is a good day for the freedoms of speech and religious liberty.
“The left is going to have to get accustomed to the fact that it does not have a monopoly on free speech and is not the only group who is permitted to voice its opinion in the public square. The left may control Hollywood, but they don’t control the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans.”
One wonders why the network felt compelled to reinstate Phil Robertson so quickly. One hunch is that it assumes it has already lost the tolerant open minded demographic it is going to lose. Maybe reinstating Phil Robertson will ensure the demographic most aligned him is maintained. Will even his core demographic start leaving as a result of the above revelation?

Anything else ya all wanna bitch about….??? how bout something worth the fuck while…. like why we have citizens in this country that go hungry, and without proper medications, because they cant afford them, or how about why our country is spending your tax dollars faster than you can make it? Can we find anything more worthwhile to do with our time than bitch about A&E or some person that might make some sense on how things are? How about just pay attention to your own wife and kids and family??? … you don’t have enough on your own plate to worry about? Get real people, just get real!

When it comes to getting real, it looks like Phil isn’t the only one who has a long way to go.
Clearly he said “these BOYS!” Not men, BOYS! You are all completely ignorant! Mind your own damn business, you have enough to worry about in your own lives!
I disagree with Mr. Robertson’s remarks but you are giving him and his beliefs attention and credibility. I have watched the show. No one who has is surprised by his views. They end every show with a prayer. No one complained then. It was the family’s religious views and they were ok. While I disagree with his views on gay rights, I believe in his right to have those views. His views on homosexuals, while abhorrent, are his religious beliefs and he has every right to have them no matter how misguided they may be. His racial statements and statements about 16 year olds would never come to light if it weren’t for the internet promoting his LGBT statements. Stop giving his views credibility by continuing to promote them via the internet. They would have faded into nothingness where they belong.

I write for TV so I see all. This man and this show cross the line. As a TV writer I know that “Reality TV” is all scripted. I have written for “Reality TV”. This man is just an actor saying the lines that have been written for him. You are a fool to think he is saying his own words. It is all about ratings and money and you are taking the bait. Very pathetic.
