ROADWomen 2015 Heart of the City Honorees
ROADWomen honored 10 Progressive Houston Area business women at their 2nd Annual ROADWomen Heart of the City Brunch. The event was attended by the Who is Who of Houston area politicians and other progressive benefactors.
Before the brunch ROADWomen Executive Committee Member/President Diane Mosier sat down for an interview. “We do the Heart of the City brunch to honor business women and CEOs of nonprofits so that we can show others how you could succeed in business and still have a heart and give back to the community and your charities,” Diane Mosier said. “These women are progressives and we are very proud that they are in our Houston businesses.”

Ms. Mosier said that the proceeds from the event will be used to engage women and encourage them to participate in the political process to ensure that politicians supporting progressive policies are elected. She lamented that seventy percent of progressive women did not vote in the 2014 elections. That was disastrous for the effecting of progressive policies in Texas. She discussed the April 28th National event Unite Against The War on Women. ROADWomen was instrumental in arranging for buses that ferried women (and men) to Austin for that huge rally at the Texas Capitol.

ROADWomen honored, Nory Angel (SER Jobs For Progress), Joi Beasley (GoGo Business Communications, Genora Boykins & Sharon Owens (La Maison in Midtown), Roshanak Far & Sheri Khatami (Roshar Jewels lnc), Nicole Longnecker (Nicole Longnecker Gallery), Lisa Malosky (Lisa Malosky Productions), Monica Pope (Sparrow Bar + Cookshop and Beaver’s), Anne Sung (Community Voices for Public Education). The Honorary Event Chair was Houston First Lady Kathy Hubbard (Hubbard Financial Services).
Andrea Chilton Greer was the emcee of the event. First Lady Kathy Hubbard presented the awards. She had a special treat for the attendees. One hundred and ten year old Lady Emma G. Primas was honored as a trailblazer who excelled as an entrepreneur in Texas when it was virtually impossible for an African American let alone a woman to do so.
