- Event: Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Bill White Addressing Kingwood Tea Party
- Date: 05/03/2010
- Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Location: Lone Star College in Kingwood, TX
City of Houston, TX Ex-Mayor and Texas Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Bill White addressed the Kingwood Tea Party. The Tea Party leaders did not allow members to question Mr. White directly, instead they requested that all questions be written down on a flashcard in the beginning of the session and sent to the moderator. Many Tea Party members became impatient as moderators never asked question submitted by the members but instead seemed to ask question not pertinent to a Governor of Texas’ job description.
As an example; was “Does he support suing the government to repeal healthcare?” In Texas the attorney general has that power. Moreover, the governor stated that as Governor who would be frugal with taxpayer dollars, it would not be warranted for Texas to yet be another state spending on this suit giving that any one suit that invalidates a law is law and does not require the grandstanding of politicians in each state suing.
Texas Governor Perry has a videographer that shadows every Bill White event. Bill White pointed this out and eluded to the politics of destruction employed by Texas Governor Perry that was independent of Party as he used it first against Senator Kay Bayley Hitchinson & Candidate Medina in the GOP primary and now against him in the general Texas governor’s election.
It was obvious to this iReporter that ther leaders of the Tea Party unlike the members in attendance had an agenda to attempt to lead Bill White into a gotcha moment given all the irrelevant questions. Bill White was not phased by them and was consistent in his responses.
