Last week, Bill White continued to reach out to Texans with an ad called "Texas Roots Texas Values." You can watch the ad here. Bill explains how the values he learned from his family helped him raise three children, build businesses and lead our state’s largest city.

As governor, Bill White will work every day to ensure Texans have the education and training they need to compete for good jobs. This week hammered home just how much we need a real leader at the helm.

On Friday, the State Board of Education adopted sweeping revisions to the social studies curriculum standards originally drafted by educators and experts. Rick Perry provided no leadership, standing by and saying he wouldn’t try to "outsmart" the SBOE while his appointed chair led a process that disrespected educators and injected politics into our classrooms.

The only way to revisit these standards and reign in the hyper-political process is to elect Bill White. You can learn more about the SBOE vote by checking out Bill’s statement or this article in the Houston Chronicle.

Over this next week, we encourage you to get involved at the Harris County Volunteer Headquarters to help make a difference. Here are some upcoming events:

  • Phone Bank on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m. Click here for more details.
  • Phone Bank on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Click here for more details.

If you aren’t able to make it out to one of the events, please contact the Harris County Volunteer Headquarters office to learn about other opportunities.
