During the healthcare debate I stated categorically that when middle class America got a chance to see the reality of the good and humaneness within the Healthcare Reform Bill that they would come to see it as one of the best legislations ever passed. The legislation did not remove insurance companies from the equation which undoubtedly would have reduced costs further by removing the ill gained profits from companies that just serve as a conduit used to skim from the premiums without providing any real needed service. That not withstanding, the benefits to small businesses, employees of small businesses, people with pre-existing conditions, and college students make the bill the most sweeping change in health insurance protection for the middle class.
As someone with a wife with a pre-existing condition and someone with a daughter in college, we have had to go through hoops to get her insurance. Texas has a small but expensive high risk pool insurance which I pay for her insurance. While the bill does not immediately do anything to reduce our insurance costs, it makes insurance more deterministic for all. I challenge all those ill-informed about the benefits of the healthcare reform bill to do their own do research and assess its impact on your family for yourself as most opposing the bill are simply lying about its content or have financial interest in conflict with yours.
The first major benefit of the new health reform law just kicked in, and it could be a life-saver for you, your family members or friends.
Starting now, anyone in Texas who has been uninsured for the last six months and denied because of a pre-existing condition can finally buy it, and at a more affordable price.
That means people struggling with major illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes or arthritis or a congenital illness, will finally have peace-of-mind knowing they can’t be turned down. And this coverage can’t be more expensive than what a healthy person of the same age and in the same location would pay!

If you haven’t had insurance for at least six months because of a pre-existing condition, you can apply for a policy today, with coverage starting as soon as August. Or, if you know people who could use this help, forward this email to them so they can apply too.
The new plan will cover primary doctor care and all specialty care needed to treat and manage the pre-existing condition, including prescriptions and hospitalization. Monthly premiums will vary by state, but a 50-year-old with a health problem could expect to pay between $320 to $570 a month.
So many people are denied coverage by insurance companies simply because they have a medical condition. The health reform law stops this discrimination. And starting in 2014, all insurance companies will be prohibited from using a person’s health as an excuse to deny coverage or jack-up rates.
