"All Right, I’ll Do It, Just Let the Middle Class Go", Concedes Obama to the GOP #p2 #tcot #teaparty

My friend and CNN iReporter put this one together. I love the analogy he used with the movie. For those who want to be purist, simply think about those in pain who do not have wherewithal to do without while we play chicken with the Republicans. Remember, they can hold out as long as they want, after-all they do not need a majority, just the misinformed, ill-informed, and the selfish portion of the wealth (40 senators in the Senate is a functioning majority).

iReport —

"We don’t negotiate with kidnappers- with those that take hostages and demand a ransom. We have principles. If you give in, they’ll only demand more."

Sounds good in theory. But the reality is, when real people you care about stand to be hurt, you concede…you compromise. The President did what I believe was the only choice available.

How could the Republicans bring it to this?

The President was forced to choose between helping those without a job and middle class Americans barely surviving from paycheck to paycheck facing tax hikes, or continuing to fight for something the GOP was unwilling to do.

What real choice did the GOP leave our President?

How could Republicans do this? Well, they have their priorities, tax cuts for the wealthy and to hell with everyone else.

Does extending the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy add to the deficit unnecessarily? Yes. Was it responsible for Republicans to hold the unemployed hostage to gain concessions from our President? No. Do those cuts create jobs? No.

Does it show Republicans to be morally reprehensible for doing this? Yes. But many in this country support them..the majority of Americans stand with them and tonight celebrate their victory.

Of course, the majority of Americans are against equal rights for Gay Americans, Muslims, want to continue DADT, want  to deport all immigrants, favor cutting social safety net programs, cutting unemployment benefits.

They support the wars, rendition, assassination of Julian Assange, at WikiLeaks, torture, foreclosure, and the right of corporations to export American jobs, dropping sick people from insurance rolls, excluding those with pre-existing illnesses, allowing States to create death panels for the poor when funds are not available to pay for critical operations, and cut education funds in our country.

Is it any wonder that we have the problems in America while so many lack the basic human empathy for those in our country without the means to pay for the services they need.

They have no job. And the majority don’t care because they have a job.

Hard times reveal character. Many  Americans have been weighed and found wanting.

Evil prevails when good men and women do nothing.
