Dr. Bonnie Longnion, Ellen Cohen, & Randy Bates To Speak at Kingwood Area Democrats (Mar 2nd, 2011)

Our program will consist of a three person panel to discuss the education crisis. We are pleased to announce that our speakers will be:

Dr. Bonnie Longnion

Bonnie has served on the Humble I.S.D. school board since 1988. She is a retired college administrator from the Lone Star College System and an adjunct instructor at the University of Houston-Downtown. Bonnie is a Senior Fellow of the Gulf Coast/Houston American Leadership Forum, serves as past president of the Houston YWCA Board, and was vice-president of the Artesian Humble Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association where she was chosen as a Top Ten Candidate.

Ellen Cohen

Former  state representative Ellen Cohen is well known for her longtime dedication to both human rights and educational issues. In addition to her work in the legislature, she served for a decade as the executive director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), after which she served as President and CEO of the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC) for 18 years.

Randy Bates

Randy has served on the  Board of Trustees of the Lone Star College System for 17 years, including time spent serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.  He has been a member of the Texas Bar for 26 years, developing a practice in the area of public finance.  Randy has also served on numerous boards and advisory committees, and in 1997 was named “Outstanding Texan” in the field of education by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus.
