Mayor Annise Parker visits Kingwood Area Democrats
Houston Mayor Annise Parker made a visit to the Kingwood Area Democrats monthly meeting to discuss the state of our city as well as other prescient issues. There was a larger than expected crowed of over 100 Kingwood Area residents in attendance. The Mayor was very happy with the attendance and spent way more than the allotted time with citizens to discuss local issues. She also connected a few citizens that had Kingwood specific problems to different members of her staff for resolution.
It was a wonderful evening that illustrated that good government simply requires politicians who view government as a job to serve the citizenry as opposed to some intrinsic evil. Mayor Parker showed a mastery of local, state, and national issues including budget, infrastructure, traffic, police, utilities, fire, and health services. The mayor answered questions till there were no more. It was refreshing to see a politician who actually understood the arithmetic, the socio-economic policy, as well as the politics of her job.
