It is time for the Presidential “Nuclear Option." by Bruce Olson, Houston, TX

July 25, 2011 By Egberto Willies

It is time to issue the Executive Order to exceed any previously established debt ceiling when necessary to meet existing legal obligations as they come due. To refuse not to pay these obligations is a violation of the laws of Congress by the Congress itself. It is a step toward national self destruction both economically and politically.

Congress has the power and authority to create debt to enable the laws of the land, the same laws it created. They actually did so whether they will admit it or not when they created the obligations by passing the laws in the first place. But Congress does not have a clear power to violate the nation’s legal obligation to honor those debts. To even threaten to do so is a blatant over reach.

The President has the power to over ride such illegal and flagrant conduct under the Constitution, Article II and specifically in Section 3 “…he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,”

Congress is breaking its own laws. The President, by Oath of Office must take care that the laws are faithfully executed, the Congress and its political games be damned.

By its conduct Congress is violating every Constitutional objective and responsibility of our government. It:

Denies Justice,

Harms domestic Tranquility,

Threatens the ability to provide for the common defence,

Weakens the general Welfare,

and most important, it makes less secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

It is time to act Mr. President. It is the right thing to do. Congress is busy chasing its tail. Too many in Congress are concerned with their own Tea Parties, self promotion and defeating you than they are conducting the People’s business for the good of the People.

Just Do it Mr. President, the sooner the better for all of us.

Bruce Olson, Houston
