New Rendition And Lyrics Of The Song “At Last” In Support Occupy Wallstreet–Occupy Together

October 18, 2011 By Egberto Willies

imageI listened to the song with the new lyrics and got goose bumps. I can’t help but feel that we are at the cusp of the awakening most of us activists have been working and hoping for. Again I will admit that I was hesitant in supporting this movement but after speaking directly with many of the participants, a myriad of college graduates, college attendees, laborers, unemployed, and many others who are starting to understand the plight of the middle class and poor because that is what is happening to them, I became a convert and a staunch supporter.

These folks will no longer be fooled by Right Wing propaganda or false choices. They will no longer accept a timid Progressive movement. They are knowledgeable and understand. This may be the point where their sheer number may force politicians into action independent of an unpatriotic corporate private sector that is completely ambivalent to the average American. Absent this, Americans may live in a destabilized country as some of the disenfranchised who have nothing to lose pick up their arms. And an armed country we are.We must OCCUPY TOGETHER now to prevent a destabilization.

At Last

New Lyrics by Lincoln Bergman

At Last
The people start to rise
A spark is in the streets now
And in each other’s eyes

At Last
Freedom is in the air
From Wall Street liberation
To places everywhere
We’re in a world
Of war and trouble
A world the financiers have ruled
But freedom comes from struggle
And this time we won’t be fooled

At last
Freedom’s in the air
Democracy is coming
To people everywhere
