CNN producer note
iReporter Egberto Willies, a software engineer from Kingwood, Texas, says it’s clear from tonight’s GOP debate that the Republican candidates are not interested in offering solutions but only want to criticize the President. He also referred to what he thought was a "key point" in the debate: Mitt Romney pointed out that Newt Gingrich had once supported a national mandate for health insurance, which Mr. Willies says shows how far political ideology has shifted. He says that the Obama health plan is very similar to the plan Richard Nixon proposed that was supported by Republicans at the time. Mr. Willies says this moment in the debate indicated just how polarized the current political climate has become, with a Democratic president occupying the same ideological space as Nixon.
