While the show on CNN “Black In America: The New Promise Land-Silicon Valley” was entertaining it may mislead entrepreneurs both black or otherwise. In the Internet Age, angel investors are unnecessary if you are willing to grow your business organically.
We are simply continuing on the pathway to indentured servitude when we must sit at the table begging for folks generally less capable than the business owners themselves to decide our faith. We are complicit in the skewed structure of American Capitalism as we sell our souls to capital.
What ever happened to real American ingenuity. Whatever happened to real self sustaining small businesses without the need of financial trickery. Many small businesses have allowed themselves to be nothing more than the “pseudo product” in the multi-level marketing airplane fraud that our titans of finance have created to extract monies out of the 99% via their pension plans, 401Ks, etc. Privatization of social security anyone? Lot of capital for the titans of finance to extract there.
