The Occupy Houston November 17th Day Of Action was peaceful, successful, and effective. Both the protesters and the police were well behaved.
The rally started in Market Square Park in Downtown Houston at about 4:00 PM. There was a moveon.org speaker and several others from other organizations. Minister Robert Mohammed gave likely one of the most powerful working class messages of the evening in support of the movement. Andrea Gardner, a Coffee Party USA member gave a passionate interview detailing the reasons she felt a need to be at the rally.
After a short program, protesters marched to the bridge near the University of Houston Downtown. Twelve occupiers sat in the middle of the street and blocked traffic. They were then arrested by officers of the Houston Police Department. Houston Police and Occupy Houston are displaying a tense cooperation that is holding so far.
The protesters then marched back to Market Square Park where the rally ended with speeches by Occupy Houston representatives Dustin Phipps & Remington Alessi.
