AFL-CIO Endorses Ann Harris Bennett for Harris County Tax Assessor Collector & Voter Registrar
Ann Harris Bennett, candidate for Harris County Tax Assessor Collector & Voter Registrar, recently received the endorsement of the Harris County AFL-CIO.
The following is a statement from Ann:
"As the daughter of a longshoreman, I had instilled in me from a very early age a deep respect for the work done by organized labor. That upbringing makes it all the more humbling to receive the endorsement of the Harris County AFL-CIO.
"I am truly honored to receive their endorsement and will be proud to stand with them during a time when there are forces at work trying to undermine the most basic worker rights.
"A critical first step in electing policymakers who will craft fairer policies for working men and women is guaranteeing that our voter registration system is simple, secure and above all, never leaves citizens questioning its integrity.
"When elected, I will do the job the citizens elected me to do, and not get involve with partisan politics that have nothing to do with serving the citizens of this county.
"I will run a service organization instead of a political organization emphasizing service to the citizen taxpayers over partisanship."
