Who Is Joseph Kony? — Find out, and help the People of the world call in a new era
This YouTube video went from 1.8 million views to 4.2 million in the time it took me to write this. It’s the most important web video thus far in the information age.
It begins with the words:
"Right now, there are more people on Facebook than there were on the planet 200 years ago. Humanity’s greatest desire is to belong and connect, and now we see each other, we hear each other."
In 30 minutes, it shows us how people using new media technology can change the course of human history, and are in Uganda, by bringing to justice Joseph Kony, the leader of the LRA, an army that has for three decades committed unspeakable crimes against humanity. President Obama has sent American troops to help hunt Joseph Kony down. Joseph Kony is now in hiding. We can help to ensure that the mission is completed by making sure that our friends and everyone in our social media network to ask the question "WHO IS JOSEPH KONY?"
The theory of this incredibly exciting arm of the global democracy movement is that awareness and action go together, and that we are only a step away from the national/global awareness we need to bring a monster to justice. But this has more significance than that.
The video ends with these words:
"It’s always been that the decisions made by the few, with the money and the power, dictated the priorities of their government and the stories in the media. They determined the lives and the opportunities of their citizens. But now there is something bigger than that. The people of the world see each other and can protect each other.
