Excellent article by Deborah Mowrey on the Trayvon Martin case. I hope Deborah Mowrey’s personalization of the case will give those who are attempting to grab at straws to justify George Zimmerman’s actions some pause.
While Deborah states that “I have no idea what it’s like to be a person of color in our country” I do not think one must live in another’s skin, gender, religion, or culture to be able to empathize After all. I do not know what it is to be a woman in America, yet I know they make 71 cents on the dollar for every man, have a glass ceiling in most corporations, and generally pay more for medical care. I can empathize with those gross inequities and fight like hell to change them so that my daughter and her daughter will not need to live that travesty.
