Last night the Harris county Democratic Party attended the NAACP closing dinner. Present were the Harris County Democratic Party (HCDP) Chairman Lane Lewis, Judges Al Bennet, Alexandra Smoots-Hogan, Jaclanel McFarland, Maria T. Jackson, & Hazel Jones, HCDP Communication Chair Egberto Willies, political activists Almeda Dent & Verge Parks, and HCDP’s new Regional Field direct John Fennell.
Pictures were taken with Julian Bond a civil rights hero during and after Martin Luther King’s civil rights movement days. Viola Davis; the award winning actress who played the starring role in “The Help” was the closing speaker of the NAACP event.
Earlier in the day Vice-President Joe Biden gave a very well received speech. Mitt Romney gave his speech the day before. He was received warmly but summarily booed when he promised to repeal “Obamacare”, the affordable care act.
