The Houston Chronicle put it best: “…Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart is bad at his job. Specifically, Stanart has performed poorly as chief election officer in his duty to responsibly and effectively administer elections for Harris County.”
Despite the best efforts of dedicated primary staff and county employees, the primary and primary run-off elections were littered with several significant problems. Excuses have been made, but Stanart, the Republican elected official in charge of our elections, said he was not to blame.
Really!? It is time we show Harris County that we want elections we can all be proud of. Will you contribute to HCDP today so we can make sure everyone knows the stark differences in electing Democrats vs. Republicans this November?
As a result of this mess, I am going to the Courtroom of the Commissioners Court of Harris County today to call for a total audit of all of our elections equipment and processes.
Can you show your support for this audit, and stand up for our Democratic Party, by contributing $25, $50 or $100 today?
Our elections are too important, and too much is at stake this November to let another mistake happen. Not on my watch.
Think Progress,
Lane Lewis, Chairman
