Letter Sent To TX State Rep Dan Huberty Requesting Debate With Cody Pogue

September 19, 2012 By Egberto Willies

imageimageFollowing is the letter I sent to TX State Rep Dan Huberty requesting a debate with Mr. Cody Pogue. This is our 4th attempt to get a debate that our friends and neighbors are owed in order to enable them to make an informed decision as to who will best serve them in the Texas Legislature.

Cody Pogue is a History and Government professor at San Jacinto College. Before that he was an adjunct professor at Kingwood College. Mr. Pogue is the quintessential Texan, the quintessential American who paid his way through college, who was a caring youth pastor at his church, and who has cared for many teenagers and young adults not only during their education but throughout their lives.

Cody Pogue understands the damage that has been done by the last Texas legislature to the children in Texas and specifically to the children in our district. He understands that Texas men in the Texas legislature have passed laws damaging to the dignity, psyche, independence, and honor of women.

The above issues are issues that must  be discussed and debated. This is especially important since inasmuch as the record indicates that Dan Huberty was instrumental in the above mentioned legislations, he denies in an article in the Observer the absolute cuts and the real impact on our children.

Cody Pogue is running a real grassroots campaign. All his donors are small donors from our community. This enabled Cody to open the first Democratic campaign office in our district since the 90’s. It allowed him to make bumper stickers, yard signs, store signs, and push cards in a pay as you go manner. Cody learned and practiced the frugality and fiscal responsibility his father and grandfather taught him. He will govern within that context.

Cody is not dependent or beholding to fat cats or corporate masters that he must then serve in Austin. He will have an open door for every resident of the district. In fact, why don’t you make an investment in his campaign here right now. Also, please tell Dan Huberty here that you demand that he debates Cody Pogue now. We will be arranging meet and greets in several parts of our district in the upcoming weeks before the election.

Dan Huberty
State Representative District 127
4501 Magnolia Cove, Suite 201
Kingwood, Texas 77345

September 19th, 2012

Dear State Representative Dan Huberty,

This is the fourth time I am contacting your office requesting a debate between you and Candidate for State House District 127 Cody Pogue, a teacher at one of our community colleges. These are serious times and it is important that our friends and neighbors in our district are aware of all the issues relevant to their well-being and how your positions differ from Mr. Cody Pogue.

It is important that they have truthful and factual information on your votes during the last legislative session and if you maintain those positions today. Most importantly they deserve to hear both you and Mr. Cody Pogue examine how your respective positions affect their friends and families, our state, and ultimately our country.

Please note that if we do not get a timely response, we will conduct a debate in absentia. We will ensure the community is made aware of all of Mr. Cody Pogue’s positions as well as how the policies he intend to fight for differ from those reflective based on every one of your past votes and co-sponsorships. We need a response no later than Friday.

Sincerely Yours,

Egberto Willies
Campaign Manager, Cody Pogue Campaign
