Conservative That Responded To My Newspaper Op-ed Confronts Me At Occupy Kingwood

October 6, 2012 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Joe Dragonetti & Egberto WilliesThis morning at Occupy Kingwood a man came over to talk to us. I saw him talking to Tobias and a few others and decided to join the conversation.

He at first disagreed with us. When I started talking he realized we had more in common on the failures of government though he was still hesitant to acquiesce on certain issues.

I asked him a few times for his name and he just said Joe. After prodding him a bit he told me to just go look in the Kingwood Observer in response to my article. I was admittedly shocked. I started laughing and asked him if he was the guy who wrote the letter to the editor (LTE) in response to my op-ed. He said yes.

It turns out this was our good neighbor Joe Dragonetti who in addition to responding to my op-ed decided to pay Occupy Kingwood a visit. Now this is the second time this has happened. Syd B Nice responds sometimes to my op-eds. He also showed up at the Kingwood Area Democrats booth at the 4th of July celebrations in Town Center last year. Both times I had a good laugh and good conversations with these new conservative buddies.

Folks this is what it is all about. Get out there and write your op-eds and LTEs and get engaged. When you hear someone being misinformed or misinforming someone, engage. Do not allow misinformation to metastasize lest we get the disaster that is our current Congress.Just make sure we maintain our values and be factual so that when folks engage us we can stand our ground on facts. You are having an impression on red conservatives as people start seeing that they are being used and controlled by the Plutocracy.
