Religion should not be a part of the political process. However when a particular party wears its religion on its sleeve, it is of concern.
My mother is a Mormon. I remember the day she told me that as if it was yesterday. I was concerned because I always understood that for a very long time blacks were second class citizens in that church. I have wonderful neighbors that are very good people that are Mormons. From experience I know that rank and file Mormons are good upstanding folks.
Just like I hold no animus against the average Republican citizens that are misled by their leadership causing them to vote against their social & economic interest and against real moral human values, I do not hold animus against wonderful people that are part of the Mormon religion. I do however hold the leaders of the Republican Party and the Leaders of the Mormon Church responsible for their misdeeds and would expect every American citizen to do so as well.
Mitt Romney happens to hold the distinction of being the leader of the Republican Party and a past Bishop in his Church. Moreover he has carried much of his patriarchal doctrine in his leadership style and stances on women (until his current façade change for political gain) in particular and in his management style and ideology which I have blogged about ad nauseam.
While President Obama was running, much was made of his religion even though he was not a leader in the church or took positions relative to the church. Mitt Romney has worn the doctrine of his church in his positions if not the name of his church. He has been the near perfect chameleon and that should make us all question if he could really the president of all America or if his attachment to his doctrine will make him biased to many.
We must all vote as if our life depended on it because in the opinion of this humble poster, our life, well-being, and economic viability depend on it.
