Another Campus Shooting–This time by the “good guy”? (VIDEO)

February 8, 2013 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

A person described as homeless was on the roof of Building 3 at the Research Park area of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. According to Police Chief Charles Lowe the FAU police received a non-emergency call at 10:01 AM reporting the presence of the vagrant between the age of 20 and 30.

The University sent out the following alert.

An incident on the #FAU campus was isolated & the sitiuation is under control.@bocapolice is assisting #FAU Police-Campus NOT on lockdown

— Boca Raton Police (@BocaPolice) February 8, 2013

Two FAU police officers were dispatch to the roof to remove the man. According to WPTV

"Preliminarily, it appears the suspect produced a knife and shots were fired," Lowe said. "The suspect was struck. He was transported in serious condition to Delray Medical Center."

Lowe could not comment on whether or not the man was threatening the officers. He also could not comment on how he gained access to the roof.

Lowe said no officers were hurt and no civilians were directly involved. He added that this was an isolated incident contained to the roof.

Earlier reports had claimed he was brandishing a knife.

The University sent the all clear soon after.
