Politicians Will Not Take Risks Unless They Are Forced To (VIDEO)

March 21, 2013 By Egberto Willies

imagePresident Obama gave a very Israeli and Palestinian friendly speech in Israel today. He made it clear that everyone knows what the outcome must be, a two state solution, Israel living side by side with Palestine.

He had a direct message about politicians that not only applies in Israel or Palestine, but right here in America. In talks I give when doing political activism I always refer to politicians kindly as empty vessels to be filled with the will of those willing to fill them. Currently moneyed interests are the ones filling these vessels because it currently works.

When the masses begin filling those vessels, the politicians will be forced to listen. President Obama said as much in his speech. He said. “Politicians will never take risks if the people do not push them to take some risks. You must create the change you want to see. Ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. I know this is possible.”

It is time that Americans begin pushing. President Obama must be pushed. Congress must be pushed. The Senate must be pushed. We must ensure that the masses are pushed to the ballot box to vote their interest.

I received  a comment on CNN iReport that adds context that I am copying verbatim below.

imageEWillies1961… Good iReport.  I am similar to CK in the fact that this is a common perception if one keeps up with the news.  The reason I LOVE this iReport is all too often apply risk analysis to our own lives and what goes into limbo?  Politics, and other ‘lower applicable’ issues.  These days however politics is no longer a ‘lower applicable’ issue.  It Will affect us and the way you presented a larger question into/out of a valid politically recent talk was great!  Good job!
