Bruce Barnes Is New Montgomery County Chair

June 25, 2013 By Egberto Willies

*

My good friend Bruce Barnes has been voted the new Montgomery County Democratic Chair. I have known Bruce for some time through the Coffee Party. He has been an avid  contributor to real Progressive discourse on my show Politics Done Right.

Bruce always has his i’s dotted and his tees crossed. In every show he has appeared on he has been a bastion of research. Montgomery County is in good hands.

MESSAGE FROM COUNTY CHAIR BRUCE BARNES

June 2013

Bruce Barnes Montgomery County ChairI am both honored and excited to accept the position as Democratic County Chair for Montgomery County, and thank the Executive Committee for their confidence in me.  Over the last couple of years, I have had the pleasure to know and support our previous two County Chairs — Adrienne Cadik who served from January 2008 – August 2012, and Dena Fredrickson who served from August 2012 to May 2013. Dena has resigned for personal reasons and will be relocating out of state.

I know how much they worked to serve county Democrats with their initiatives, time and energy.  And, I will need everyone’s help as we move forward, because those are big shoes to fill.

This year we have two goals:  to field great candidates to give voters choices, and to register and inform voters.  The November 5, 2013 election will feature candidates for local offices as well as proposed state Constitutional Amendments and Propositions.  Candidates have to decide by December 9, 2013 which positions to file for in the March 4, 2014 primary elections.   It is essential that Democrats support our candidates and party through volunteering and/or local donations.  Over the last few years, the MCDP has grown to more than 20 per cent of the voters, and with the Battleground Texas’s “Turn Texas Blue” program, we expect to double that number in 2014.  But we need your support to make that happen.

Our message is simple, “Leave No One Behind.”  Not in education, food, health, or equality.  If you believe in family, equal access to success, and basic human and moral values, then the Democratic Party is where you belong.

I welcome your ideas and your help; and I look forward to working with you.

Your support and involvement continue to be critical.  Along with your vote and your personal volunteering, every dollar you contribute will help us to meet our goals: growing the Democratic Party in our County, conducting effective campaigns (which includes maintaining our headquarters), and electing Democrats.  Click HERE to make a one-time donation or to become a Sustaining Member a Sustaining Member (a monthly donation of $10 or more).  THANK YOU!
