Karen Menke, Vice-President of the Kingwood Area Democrats wrote the following Kingwood Observer article that every Texan should read.
Karen is not just sitting still. She has a plan of action that should be the template for every Texan interested in parity in opportunity and access to success for women. Karen says,
What am I doing about this? First of all, I contacted Kroger on Facebook and Macy’s through the Internet to let them know of my disapproval of their clandestine lobbying. Secondly, I am switching all of my grocery shopping to HEB and other stores and am getting rid of my Macy’s credit card.
Lastly, I will try to make other women aware that discrimination against women did not end when we started to get better jobs and that the efforts of major companies to prevent actions intended to secure equal pay for women continues unabated.
There is still a wage gap and we must call hold those who are attempting to perpetuate it accountable. If we do not do so, this kind of discrimination will obviously continue.
