Marc Croes, Kingwood Area Democrats membership chairman wrote a prescient article on Rick Perry ’s abuse of power and an uncanny ability to give our great state of Texas a bad reputation.
Maybe it's time for a constitutional amendment to change the rules for calling special sessions, and make them less susceptible to abuse by an ethically challenged governor. Let's limit special sessions to one every regular session. Let's permit special sessions to override the governor's vetoes. Let's restore the (two thirds rule' for special sessions. These suggestions will help restore integrity to special sessions, and reduce the chances that our governor and our state Legislature will once again become a national laughingstock.
