Obama: ‘In The USA Health Insurance Isn’t A Privilege It’s Your Right’ (VIDEO)

August 18, 2013 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Obamacare Will Be Successfully Implemented

Barack Obama Obamacare Affordable Care Act

President Obama came out swinging in this weekend’s weekly address. He made the following necessary and truthful statement.

Many Members of Congress, in both parties, are working hard to inform their constituents about these benefits, protections, and affordable plans. But there’s also a group of Republicans in Congress working hard to confuse people, and making empty promises that they’ll either shut down the health care law, or, if they don’t get their way, they’ll shut down the government.

Think about that. They’re actually having a debate between hurting Americans who will no longer be denied affordable care just because they’ve been sick – and harming the economy and millions of Americans in the process. And many Republicans are more concerned with how badly this debate will hurt them politically than they are with how badly it’ll hurt the country.

He also illustrated the callousness of those opposing the bill. He said,

Some even say that if you call their office with questions about the law, they’ll refuse to help. Call me old-fashioned – but that’s lousy constituent service. And it’s not what you deserve.

Your health insurance isn’t something to play politics with. Our economy isn’t something to play politics with. This isn’t a game. This is about the economic security of millions of families.

The President described the successes of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) in states that did the responsible thing to work with the new law in a positive manner.

The most important statement The President made was that in the United States health insurance is not a privilege, it is a right. That statement of humanity is one every American citizen should cherish. No longer is health insurance/healthcare solely a function of one’s wealth or poverty.

The President encourages citizens to go to http://healthcare.gov to get information about the law and to find out how to get truthful factual information about what every American is  legally entitled to. Every citizen must disregard the lies and misinformation  that the Right Wing is disseminating as it will materially affect the well-being  of one’s children and families. Those opposing this law while offering nothing  in return to ensure the health of American citizens show a degree of  inhumaneness that as citizens become more informed, will punish them severely  for.
