David Plouffe And Chris Cillizza scolds GOP Sen John Cornyn Iran talk

November 25, 2013 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Iran Accords Battle
Chris Cillizza, John Cornyn, David Plouffe, Iran

Republican Senator John Cornyn responded to the President Obama’s new success story, the Iran nuclear accords with the following tweet. As usual, he tries to conflate every Obama policy, statement, or accomplishment with the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare.

Amazing what WH will do to distract attention from O-care

— JohnCornyn (@JohnCornyn) November 24, 2013

The Iran 6 month deal is an accomplishment no matter Cornyn’s spin. David Plouffe, past Obama campaign manager fired back with the epic response. Cornyn’s Obamacare tunnel vision fails him.

No, a real distraction would be war. Like Iraq. RT@JohnCornyn: Amazing what WH will do to distract attention from O-care”

.Washington Post Chris Cillizza gets it with the tweet of his article.

Republicans embrace Wag-The-Dog-ism. http://t.co/7kc5sPy5jZ

In the article Cillizza makes a few points worth noting.

  • Republicans will attempt to make every issue an Obamacare issue.

whatever President Obama is doing that is not related to fixing the problems with his health care law is, in Republicans’ minds, a transparent attempt to change the subject from what has rapidly developed into a major political problem for the administration.

  • Republicans attempts to push the message that the Iran Accords like Clinton’s 1998 bomb strikes were effected to deflect from domestic problems.

bombings in Afghanistan in Sudan orchestrated by President Bill Clinton in August 1998 were regarded by many skeptically since the strikes came just three days after the president admitted he had misled the public about the nature of his relationship with one-time White House intern Monica Lewinsky. … (Those military strikes came only a year after the release of “Wag the Dog,” a film about a fictional presidential adviser who creates a fake war against Albania to distract the country from the chief executive’s sex scandal.)

  • The President’s administration realizes it is pointless to attempt to refute the Republican paranoia.

Recognizing the pointlessness of trying to prove that the president’s actions are not motivated by a “hey, look over there” mentality, the White House has refused to comment on the GOP’s distraction charges. “I don’t have any direct response to that,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Sunday night when asked about Cornyn’s comments. “I know there are many people who took a rather dim view of that both for its plausibility and for what it says about our foreign policy priorities in this country.”

Unfortunately these Republican shenanigans will continue for the foreseeable future.  It will inhibit governing because of the false ‘un-trust’ the Republicans have of this president. The Republican House must be voted out so governing can return.
