Shooter still believed to be inside Colorado school, sheriff says

By CNN Staff

updated 3:21 PM EST, Fri December 13, 2013

CNN) — [Breaking news update, 4:09 p.m. ET}

The dead gunman was a male student at the high school, Sheriff Grayson Robinson told reporters. He declined to identify the student.

“We have not been able to locate a second suspect, but that’s part of our ongoing investigation,” the sheriff said.

The shooting began after the student entered the school and identified a teacher whom he wanted to confront, Robinson said. That teacher was informed of the situation and exited, he added. One student was taken to a hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound; another was injured, though the cause was not clear, he said.

The suspect in the shooting at Arapahoe High School is dead from what appears to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Sheriff Grayson Robinson told reporters.

At least one person — a minor — has been taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital with a gunshot wound, Lauren Brendel, a hospital spokeswoman, told CNN. The age, gender and condition of the minor were not immediately released.

    There is something deeply diseased in this society. Before it was mainly the elders of the nation who drafted and killed the young men–in particular–of the tribe. This disposed of competition, and limited the next pool of thoughtful youth. Not this.
