Following is a short letter to the editor written by one of our neighbors to the Kingwood Observer. I wish I knew her. Sabrina Emms, if you are reading this, please know that you have a home with the Kingwood Area Democrats. Please feel free to drop into any of our meetings. Many wonder if it is a waste of time for groups like the Kingwood Area Democrats to expend the effort to write well thought out and fact based op-eds. They believe the newspaper is read by mostly Right Wing Conservatives. The reality is that is not the case.
Most people in Texas and in our area specifically, are morally and philosophically in line with the Kingwood Area Democrats. If one removes the Democratic label and instead speak our Democratic values, most people agree with us. Peer pressure forces many to believe they must self-identify as Conservatives or Republicans inasmuch as those labels and said ideology have destroyed their prospects for the future.
The misinformation and lies that are posted by Senator John Cornyn, Congressman Ted Poe, and other prominent Republicans in the Kingwood Observer is sad. It is as if they forgot that they purport to abide by the Ten Commandments. Their op-eds each week violate many of these commandments.
The Kingwood Area Democrats would entertain a forum with anyone or all of them to discuss real policies in front of their constituents. We would entertain discussing factually the veracity of the columns they post.
Our neighbors, our citizens deserve an honest choice. An honest choice can only occur if they have the truth of each policy to choose from.
There are thousands of Sabrina Emms in our county and in Texas. There are millions more that just want the courage to be who they really are. Sabrina Emms note has definitely touched thousands and will awaken thousands.
