Republican Rep. Michael Grimm gets unglued at reporter.

Michael Grimm

After President Obama’s State of the Union speech Staten Island Republican Representative Michael Grimm was interviewed by NY1 Michael Scotto. Michael Grim answered a few questions. Reporter Michael Scotto then segued into asking about the congressman being under investigation.

Rep.  Michael  Grimm said he was not going to answer any off topic questions and left the interview. Michael Scotto explained to his audience that the congressman refused to answer the questions. After he signed off, the congressman accosted the reporter and the following dialogue ensued.

Rep. Michael Grimm: “Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f—–g balcony.

Reporter Michael Scotto: “Why? I just wanted to ask you…

Rep. Michael Grimm: “If you ever do that to me again…”

Reporter Michael Scotto: “Why? Why? It’s a valid question.”

Rep. Michael Grimm: “No, no, you’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy.”

T

Representative Michael Grimm first released a statement that said the following.

“I was extremely annoyed because I was doing NY1 a favor by rushing to do their interview first in lieu of several other requests. The reporter knew that I was in a hurry and was only there to comment on the State of the Union, but insisted on taking a disrespectful and cheap shot at the end of the interview, because I did not have time to speak off-topic. I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor. I doubt that I am the first Member of Congress to tell off a reporter, and I am sure I won’t be the last.”

Apparently he reconsidered his defiance and got more apologetic.

“I apologized. I called Michael Scotto. He was very gracious and accepted my apology,” Grimm said. “We’re going to have lunch sometime next week and just make sure this is all behind us.”

Maybe Michael Grimm was listening too intently to Fox News. Brit Hume implied that men have become too girly as he praised bullies like Chris Christie. Having members of his party behave like thugs is noting but the manifestation of the coddling of bullies. Jon Stewart did a great piece on GOP bullying.
