Jon Stewart slams media on Iraq coverage for giving those that lied us into war a platform again

Jon Stewart destroys GOP Iraq false narrative

Satirist Jon Stewart better than any mainstream traditional media journalist provides a humorous yet serious encapsulation of America’s entry into the Iraq War. It shows a fiery montage of senators and GOP operatives continuously escalating the rhetoric to encourage Americans to support a war.

Jon Stewart shows Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Editor of the Weekly Standard William Kristol, Former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Paul Wolfowitz, and Former Leader of Occupational Authority Iraq Paul Bremer cheerleading the effort. Most importantly he reminded all that these men were all wrong in their assessments. Worse, they all provably lied America into a war that has cost thousands of American lives and have added trillions of dollars to our budget deficit.

Instead of these bastions of misinformation being delegate to a permanent timeout from advising on issues of war, once again they are given a platform to disparage President Obama. They hope to make him seem weak and without resolve. Their intent is evident. The expectation is that they would build support through the media to once again scare Americans into another war in Iraq.

Absent in their attacks on the president is the fact that it was President Bush who signed the Status of Forces Agreement treaty at the end of 2008. The treaty said that all US forces must be out of Iraq by the end of 2011. While the President Obama would have left a residual force in Iraq, the Iraqi government would have none of it.

As has been the case for decades, the media continues to use John McCain and his ilk as commentators and advisors to their new coverage. Just like they did during the lead up to the War in Iraq in the early 2000s, they are doing so now. One hopes Americans are past these cheap tactics intent on manipulating their security fears. One hope that President Obama realizes sometimes staying out of a war shows more strength and resolve than pursuing a war.

See other good ones from Jon Stewart here.

I believe the word you are looking for is satirist, not Satanist.

Thanks. It is funny that I had a typo where for some reason I spelled satirist as satarist. I corrected it with the spell checker and clicked the wrong option. I apologize. I usually do not give excuses but this one was a real screw-up especially since I saw it upfront.
