Wendy Davis fired up the Texas Southern University troops and then they headed to vote (VIDEO)

October 22, 2014 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Wendy Davis powerful admonition to Texas Southern University students

Wendy Davis attended a rally at Houston’s Texas Southern University (TSU). She was well received with a crowd in excess of 500 students on a rather hot but beautiful afternoon. The atmosphere was cheery and jubilant.

Many politicians running locally and statewide were present. Texas State Comptroller Democratic Candidate Mike Collier, Railroad Commissioner  Democratic Candidate Steve Brown, County Clerk Democratic Candidate Ann Harris Bennett, the honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, State Senator Rodney Ellis.

Sheila Jackson Lee reminded TSU students of America’s sordid voter suppression history. She also told them the reasons why Wendy Davis was the best choice for Texas Governor. She praised TSU students for registering over 1,500 new voters.

Wendy Davis gave an all inspiring speech providing students with specific reasons why she is the candidate that has their interests at hand. The video above is the encapsulation she gave at the end of her speech.

Wendy Davis said, “This is our battle.” She asked the students to vote early. More importantly she asked them to talk to all the people they know including their families and friends encouraging them to vote. Her reasons for the importance of voting echoed what she has been saying for months which still holds true.

  • Full day quality pre-school for 4 year old
  • Access to college for every high school student
  • Increased minimum wage
  • Equal pay for women for equal work
  • Access to Medicaid Expansion to the Affordable Care Act

There were buses ready to take any students that wanted to vote to the polls that afternoon. Many students took advantage of the ride and performed their civic duty. It was evident from that the crowd was listening. It was a crowd of students that knew well that it matters who is elected to be governor of the great state of Texas.

Watch Wendy Davis’ entire inspiring speech at TSU here.
