President Obama makes a gender statement emphatically at 2014 EOY press conference
Was President Obama trying to send a message at his press conference today? One can only hope so. Many male reporters have generally been asking this president silly questions. They had little to do with the average Americans’ lives. One should remember that the many of the reporters he ignored today are those that allowed ‘death panels’, ‘government takeover of healthcare’, ‘death tax’, and other misleading Right Wing phraseology to become part of the American lexicon.
Hopefully penalizing the men of the established media will make them attempt to be journalists. They have been derelict in their duty. President Obama called on eight women. They all had substantive questions.
The eight female journalists President Obama called on are:
- Carrie Budoff Brown – Politico.
- Cheryl Bolen – Bloomberg BNA.
- Julie Pace – The Associated Press.
- Lesley Clark – McClatchy Newspapers Washington Bureau.
- Roberta Rampton – Reuters.
- Colleen Nelson – The Wall Street Journal.
- Juliet Eilperin – Washington Post White.
- April Ryan – American Urban Radio.
It was a breath of fresh air to have women decide the direction of the questioning. The long faces and at times disinterest of many of the males in the room was disappointing. Well done women.
Following is the version with each of the reporters’ first question.
