President Obama talks middle-class economics as he chided GOP & Mitt Romney’s new found interest in middle-class and poor.
President Obama continues in his new form as he gave a compelling defense of his successful implementation of middle-class economics. He gave the speech at the House Democrats retreat in Philadelphia.
“Middle-class economics works,” President Obama said. “That has been the history of this country. That has been the history of the last six years when we’ve implemented middle-class economics and the other side was telling us it would be a disaster and it would kill jobs and raise the deficit. Healthcare cost would explode. None of that happened.”
The President’s next statement is the one every Democrat should have used during the 2014 election and must use in 2016.
“It is pretty rare where you have two visions, a vigorous debate, and then you test who is right,” President Obama said. “And the record shows that we were right. And middle-class economics does work. … Bottom line is this. We gotta make sure it continues to work. We should protect the progress we are making.”
The President then commented that he has lost count of the number of times Republicans have attempted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). He assured the audience that any attempts to repeal Obamacare or any other policies that protect the middle-class will be vetoed.
The President then chided Republicans for their new found concern for the poor and the middle-class. “One good piece of news,” President Obama said. “I noticed that even though their policies haven’t caught up yet, their rhetoric is starting to sound pretty Democratic.”
The President said Chris van Hollen told him that an unnamed Republican Senator was shocked that the top one percent was doing fine as the middle-class got squeezed. He then welcomed Mitt Romney’s new found concern for the poor and middle class. “That’s great. Let’s go,” President Obama said. “Come on. Let’s do something about it. I am glad that their rhetoric at least has shifted. But let’s now make sure that the policies match up with the rhetoric.”
Mitt Romney must have forgotten that Americans were well aware that he had discounted 47% of them. They are well aware that to him capital takes preeminence over humanity.
President Obama then called for an end to sequester. He called for policies to increase wages and education.
