Will Donald Trump save Social Security and the GOP? (VIDEO)

April 21, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Donald Trump: Savior of Social Security?

When Donald Trump starts making sense it is a perfect indication on how far out of basic rationality his party has fallen.  Donald Trump came out swinging at his Republican rivals at the New Hampshire Republican leadership summit. He showed at strong support for entitlements including Social Security.

“Ever Republican wants to do a big number on Social Security,” Donald Trump said. “They want to do it on Medicare. They want to do it on Medicaid. And we can’t do that.”

When Donald Trump made those blasphemous statements, there was no applause according to MEDIAite’s Andrew Kirell, If anyone thinks that would deter Donald Trump or if anyone believes his statement was some sort of a fluke he quickly dispelled that notion. He subsequently went on Fox News and expanded on the point. Fox & Friends Brian Kilmeade asked Trump why he does not want people like his friend Chris Christie attacking entitlements.

“I tell you what is happening and I see it with the Republicans,” Donald Trump said. “And by the way, the Democrats are not doing it. And even Tea Party people don’t like it. They are attacking Social Security, the Republicans. They are attacking Medicare and Medicaid. But they are not saying how to make the country rich again.”

Donald Trump further says he is not going to cut entitlements. He is going to make folks so rich that they won’t need it.

While the rest of the GOP is on their Ayn Rand stroll, he is trying to find his more populist niche. No one takes Donald Trump seriously as a candidate. What he does is give the low information voters on his side that know they cannot survive without entitlements a pathway to talk about a topic within the framework of their primaries to force a position. So will Donald Trump save the GOP from itself? Who would have ‘thunk’ it.
