Six Baltimore police officers charged for killing Freddie Gray (VIDEO)

May 1, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Baltimore state attorney Marilyn Mosby charges six police officers

The state’s attorney for Baltimore, Marilyn J. Mosby, has filed charges against six Baltimore police officers after she received the medical examiner’s report Friday that ruled that Mr. Gray’s death was a homicide.

Ms. Mosby said, “The findings of our comprehensive, thorough and independent investigation, coupled with the medical examiner’s determination that Mr. Gray’s death was a homicide, which we received today, has led us to believe that we have probable cause to file criminal charges.”

Mosby said that Freddie Gray should not have been arrested at all as he had committed no crime. The knife he had was legal. She ended her press conference urging the citizens to maintain peace show she could in fact provide justice.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake reacts to Baltimore police officers being charged

Later that morning Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said that no one is above the law in the city of Baltimore. She said she was sickened and heartbroken by the statement of charges she heard. She said she has ordered the police commissioner to suspend all of the police officers.
“As mayor I will continue to be relentless in changing the culture of the police department, Mayor Rawlings-Blake said. “To ensure that everyone in our city is treated equally under the law. There will be justice for Mr. Gray. There will be justice for his family. And there will be justice for the people of Baltimore.”
We won’t be sure till there is a conviction. Then we will know if justice is really blind.
