Republicans intend to keep Texas Red with this type of obscene voter suppression (VIDEO)

June 3, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Republican Voter Suppression in action

Texas is a Red State hanging by a thread and the GOP is using this obscene type of voter suppression to keep it that way. It is our duty to expose it.

Texas is a minority-majority state. According to the Texas Tribune,

More than half of the 2011 Texas population, 55.2 percent, was of a race other than non-Hispanic white, according to demographic data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau. That makes Texas one of five “minority-majority” states in the country. The release of new population estimates reveals that trend will continue to spread nationally, as 50.1 percent of babies younger than one in 2011 were a minority race.

The Republican Party has been provably hostile to minorities and the poor with their tactics, policies, and stereotyping. In Texas Latinos comprise the largest minority group. Only 31.2% of eligible Latinos voted. Republicans lost the minority groups by large double digits.

There are concerted efforts to register minorities and the poor who for a long time have not participated in the voting process. It has given the state a semblance of being a Red State inasmuch as the reality is that socially and economically it is a Purple state bordering on Blue.

In order to maintain power, Republicans have instituted  the most draconian form of voter suppression as indicated in the video above. The stories of these people denied their right to vote is immoral and antidemocratic.

Please share this. Write about this. Shame these antidemocratic zealots into doing the right thing.
