Paul Ryan called out twice in one week for misinforming
Paul Ryan (R-WI) has his failed lying narrative about Obamacare down to a science. He appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. Ryan knows that Fox News is friendly territory and likely expected his misinformation and lies to go unchallenged. He used the same lying narrative that he used at a Ways and Means Committee Affordable Care Act hearing last week. It failed there as Congressman Sander Levin (D-MI) called him out with the inconvenient facts that showed that the bill is actually working. Likewise Chris Wallace called him out albeit in a less than assertive manner.
“If the court does rule against Obamacare,” Chris Wallace asked. “against these subsidies, says that they are illegal to the federal exchanges. Will Republicans come up with a way, Republicans in Congress, to make sure that those six to seven million people who depend on these subsidies in those 34 states are not left high and dry.”
Paul Ryan said Republicans will have a solution. Of course Republicans have been claiming they would have an alternative for over five years. They have never been able to come up with a market alternative. Why? Because Obamacare is the market alternative. It should be noted that by definition in healthcare a market alternative is more expensive because the cost of healthcare must include a premium for shareholder profits of the insurance companies above and beyond the real cost of healthcare. Medicare for all, the alternative liberals have been demanding is the only alternative to reduce cost. It has been tried and tested in most industrialized countries with successful outcomes.
Chris Wallace then called out Paul Ryan for continuously referring to Obamacare as busted or failed. He pointed out that over sixteen million uninsured Americans benefited from Obamacare. Over 129 million Americans with preexisting conditions are now protected. He also pointed out that healthcare costs had risen at the slowest rate in 50 years.
Ryan simply continued spinning Obamacare lies. Chris Wallace was not buying it.
