Fox News Megyn Kelly slams Mike Huckabee for contempt of SCOTUS Same Sex Marriage ruling (VIDEO)

Megyn Kelly schools Huckabee on constitution

Megyn Kelly took on Mike Huckabee who seemed to have forgotten how the United States government is structured with checks and balances. “I know that you put out a campaign release today saying ‘I will not acquiesce to an imperial court.’ and said ‘We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat.’,” Megyn Kelly said. “What does that mean? You have to accept this ruling right? Are you planning on not accepting the ruling in a way?”

After seeming a bit shocked with Kelly’s blunt question Mike Huckabee responded. “How do you we accept something that on its face’s unconstitutional,” Mike Huckabee replied. “Has the Congress yet acted?” Megyn Kelly incredulously asked him how can he not accept it. She then schools Huckabee on the separation of powers. “It is the Supreme Court’s job to interpret the Constitution and tell us what it means.” Kelly said. “Like it or not they do get the final say unless the people decide to pass a constitutional amendment.”

Huckabee tried to conflate people voting against marriage equality with Kelly’s statement about people passing a constitutional amendment. Huckabee forgot one important fact. There is a Bill of Rights and inalienable rights to protect individuals against a misinformed mob from subjugating those that may be different, powerless, or marginalized. His belief that the only definition of marriage is what his church says should have no bearing on social policy.

“In over thirty states they did say,” Huckabee said. “And they said clearly that they wanted to affirm the laws of nature. The laws of nature is god, words from the declaration of independence and keep marriage what it has always been.” Does this not sound like words of a troglodyte. But it gets worse.

He attempted to equate the same sex marriage ruling with the Dred Scott decision. He implied that somehow Abraham Lincoln defiantly bucked the Supreme Court when we all know Lincoln’s intent was to save the Union at all cost. The conflation is shameful.

Mike Huckabee should not have been surprised by Megyn Kelly’s questioning manner. After-all, she pretty much told him he was out of touch with all of America in a recent interview.
