Jeb Bush would not disappoint Ayn Rand
Jeb Bush went there. Some may call it courage for touching the 3rd rail. After-all, didn’t Paul Ryan make it evident that messing with the third rail, Social Security and Medicare is fatal to one’s electoral success? The Right Wing is very disciplined. They repeat misinformation ad nauseum with the expectation that it will stick in the long run. Activists should realize that if the past is prologue on many issues, they may be correct and as such we must be vigilant in order to prevent the castration of the social safety net.
In the above town hall Jeb Bush was challenged by one of the attendees. She asked him why would he want to change Medicare. She acknowledged that current recipients would not be affected based on what he said on Morning Joe. But she showed her unselfish concern for those that come after her. She also acknowledged a simple fact, the problem could be solved by raising caps and taxing appropriately without affecting services at all. She also realizes that what Republicans want when they talk about privatization of social services is the direct transfer of middle-class wealth to the wealthy owners of insurance companies and other companies taking over the role government is best for.
Jeb Bush’s response was the standard Right Wing response. He lied. He spun a report about the insolvency of Medicare which holds no water based on current trends. In fact the passage of Obamacare as reported last night on All-In with Chris Hayes has caused Medicare increases to flat line as oppose to rise as previously projected.
Unfortunately those types of reports go against the narrative of the plutocracy. Their intent is growth for the selected at all cost. Americans must not be fooled. It is imperative that eyes remain open to prevent double talk, fallacies, and misrepresentations to allow the implementation of bad laws and bad social policies.
