Meet Patrick Morales, a young Bernie Sanders activist in Arizona (VIDEO)

July 31, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Patrick Morales thinks Bernie Sanders is the authentic one

I met Patrick Morales at the pool party mixer on the first day I got to Netroots Nation 2015. I found out that he was one of the youngest if not the youngest elected officials in Arizona. He was elected to the Tempe elementary school board. He is 22 year old as of this post and ran when he was 21 years old.

More importantly he is  an activist that is helping build the Bernie Sanders grassroots movement in Arizona. He said he has never felt so invested in a campaign. In fact he believes Bernie Sanders is one of the most authentic politicians he has met. He is working with PDA, the Progressive Democrats of America, doing the field organizing specifically with the student population.

Patrick recounted a story where Bernie Sanders joined a demonstration they were having relative to prisons and education. He told them he would submit a bill based on what they had discussed. Patrick said that the actions of the activism he is involved with and Bernie Sanders’ actions have made free education a part of the national dialogue.

Throughout the entire Netroots Nation 2015 Patrick Morales displayed a youthful enthusiasm that has been lacking since 2008. If this enthusiasm is spread, then 2016 will be a great election year.
